Organized in 1992, the K-9 Drill Team is a group of volunteers who enjoy practicing obedience routines with their dogs and demonstrating their skills in public performances and education programs. We march in community parades (including several  Christmas light parades) around northern Arizona. And you may have seen us perform at pet events in Flagstaff’s Wheeler Park and at the annual Flagstaff Kennel Club dog show. Our Drill Team dogs have ranged in size from Chihuahuas to Anatolian Shepherds, and have included  mixed breeds of all shapes and sizes. Many of our members are registered Therapy Dog teams who perform animal assisted activities in nursing homes, classrooms, and hospitals. But these specialized skills are not required. If your dog knows basic obedience, i.e. can walk on a leash, sit, down, and stay, he/she is a good Drill Team prospect. So are you if you would like to work with your dog in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere. We practice for an hour most Sunday afternoons; time and location vary with the season.  You’re welcome to attend a few sessions to see if this is an activity for you.
